Daily Devotion:
"THE PRAYER"
Mark 11:23-24
New Living Translation
23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt inyour heart. 24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
How do you approach the practice of prayer? Are you hopeful or hesitant? Do you think it would be nice if God heard you, or are you certain that He does? James was very clear that the doubtful person could expect to receive nothing from the Lord (James1:6-7).
Jesus also had something to say regarding prayer. To unleash its full power, we should pray for specific things. Is there a mountain in your way? Follow Jesus' instruction and command it to move. Don't be afraid to list everything you need to take place. We need to believe that God loves us enough to hear us and answer.
We can find joy in knowing that if we're asking within God's will (1 John5:14) we can believe that we've received the thing for which we've asked (Mark11:24). We can delight in ourprayers knowing that God delights in hearing them (Proverbs 15:8).
