Daily Devotion:

"The Prey…"

1 Peter 5:6-11

New International Version

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.8 Be alert and have a sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of suffering.10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

The devil is like a roaring lion looking to devour you, but if you're in Christ, then Satan is in a cage. Jesus has total authority over him. Jesus gives you his authority over him too. Satan may not harm you, unless you enter his cage.

Through humility, trusting God, self-control and spiritual alertness. When we give in to pride, unbelief and temptation, we lose our spiritual protection. Stand firm in your faith. The main battlefield is in our minds. Satan will try to make us believe his lies, so we must stand in faith on the truth of the Bible. Stay in community. Satan preys on those who are isolated. Together, we can guard one another's backs.
