"Treasures in Heaven"
Matthew 6:19-21
New Living Translation
19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
We think possessions will bring happiness. Retail therapy comforts our tears. Yet, the items we accumulate do not fill our spiritual void. Jesus taught on maintaining a proper
perspective of possessions.
Ultimately, our wealth and our lives belong to God. We cannot take what we own with us into eternity. Therefore, putting all our time, resources, and energy into material things is fruitless.
How we manage the resources God gives us shows where our priorities and affections lie.
