"Vessels Designed and Moulded by God"

Jeremiah 18:1-6

New International Version

1 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.

If you have ever watched a potter work, as Jeremiah did in today’s passage, you know the wonder of seeing
a vessel take shape from a lump of clay. It was an object lesson for the prophet—God was teaching that the nation of Israel needed to be shaped by His hand. In fact, we are all vessels designed and molded by the master Potter.

Too often we look around at the talents and abilities of others and wish to be more like someone else. But
we have been perfectly designed for God’s purposes, and He makes no mistakes. Know this: The Master is pleased with who you are, for you are “awesomely and
wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). Take a moment and ask God to let this truth sink into your heart and mind today.
