"Your Hand To Hand Combat ..."

Ephesians 6:12

The Passion Translation

12 Your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings, but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms. For they are a powerful class of demon-gods and evil spirits that hold[c] this dark world in bondage.

Satan wars against us and one of his tactics is to make us feel bad about ourselves. He reminds us of all our failures and weaknesses, but we need to remember that God knows all about us.

We fight many battles, but probably the greatest battle we fight is the one with ourselves. We may struggle with feeling that we should have accomplished more in life than we have; we may feel we’ve failed in many ways. We can’t change anything by being frustrated and struggling within. Only God can change us as we trust in Him. He will fight our battles and win. Our part is to believe, cooperate with Him, and follow.

It is difficult to get to the place where we can be honest with ourselves about our sins and failures, our inabilities and fallibilities, and yet still know that we are seen as being right because of what Jesus did for us when He died for us and rose from the dead.

If you are at war within yourself, knowing you are in Christ which is a tremendous key to tapping into peace and spiritual power. We can be changed as we worship and behold God—not as we look at ourselves, adding up our many flaws.
