Join Mike and Caitlin as they talk with Mel about the biannual SOAR conference and discuss what keeps Mel coming back to the table to advocate for herself and others.
Melanie, or Mel, is a second-year UCEDD trainee at Munroe-Meyer Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, and a longtime advocate for people with disabilities in many areas. Her advocacy comes from a place of true need, as she has often experienced true gaps in the way people with disabilities are included in society. Melanie is currently investigating the policies and procedures around how to provide complex rehabilitation technology to those who need this equipment, again based on personal experiences.
