Description

This is the second part of our “Who are you gonna call?” All Things Ghostbusters episode. We pick up right where we left off from the last part and jump into talking about Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. We then turn to the most recent installment of the series - Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

We were once again joined by fellow Ghostbuster fan and host of Trash Compactor: A Star Wars Podcast, Josh Bernhard. If you are a fan of this show, you will love his podcast! Please check it out: https://www.trashcompod.com/

00:00 James introduces the show and we drop back into where we left off from last episode. We start talking about Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. We talk about the manufactured controversy over the gender swap and the “nerd culture” criticism at the time, our thoughts and feelings about people who claim “This is not my Ghostbusters," and how funny Chris Hemsworth turned out to be.

16:50 We start our discussion about Ghostbusters: Afterlife, talking about our thoughts and feelings about this movie, our love of Harold Ramis, and the complexity of the family story.

26:50 Chris talks about how well nostalgia is used in this movie and how that made Egon’s story so much more impactful. Chris talks about how he called Josh right after watching the movie to decompress and share his thoughts about the movie.

36:35 Chris asks how many times we would have to watch the movie in order to catch all of the Mini Stay Puft Marshmallow men antics. This also leads to Josh talking about how the plot of the movie kind of unfolds in a way similar to how he and Chris learned about Ghostbusters.

41:18 We talk about Ernie Hudson and the role of Winston.

47:00 We wrap up the show and give our usual recommendations for the listeners.
