It was at an event in Nashville recognized as the “For The Father’s” event where local black men were honored and recognized for their works and efforts in the city of Nashville and beyond. At this event, a 17 year old young man by the name of Roderick Johnson, Jr. was being honored and awarded, we couldn’t be more than excited to bring him on the show today .
As we get off into today’s episode we learn a lot about Roderick, his family, and his upbringing . Nashville, he is a 17 year old minister and now Youth Pastor at the Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Breonus Mitchell. Now there are a lot of young black 17 year olds , not many are preaching the Word of God. We get off into the venting session with Roderick and guys, he’s truly a humble soul. He credits a lot of where he’s at today to his parents . Roderick’s late father was well known, respected, and loved as he vented with us on how his 11 years with him impacted his maturation as a man .
“My trauma grew me up”, says the Youth Pastor.
Which is such a powerful statement to come from a young man his age. This episode, however, comes with a lot of laughs and good energy as we get into conversations about Roderick being now the only man in the house, dating life, and so much more!
