It’s hard to believe that how we think and see ourselves is rooted in a system designed to convince men and women to sacrifice self-love. Women receive messages to sacrifice themselves to please others. Men receive messages to sacrifice love for independence.
Patriarchy is a hierarchical system that privileges men over all women. A system that forces its beliefs upon us and invisibly forces us to disconnect from ourselves with the supposed intent to “connect” with others, which we know is impossible. How can you connect with others if you can't connect with yourself? Yet - this is the system we’re born into, which has been around for centuries. A system that influences how we see ourselves and others.
