Prophecy is the human report of a divine revelation. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit and something that we are all called to “eagerly desire”.
“Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.” (1 Corinthians 14:1)
“Earnestly desire” means to actively seek after and ask for, to ardently yearn for, to zealously long for. It’s a stark challenge to any follower of Jesus. Prophecy is not something we should merely think about desiring we are instructed to earnestly desire to prophesy!
