Six Basic Foundational Doctrines of Christianity

Hebrews 6: 1-2NKJV

Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Let’s grow to maturity. Move on to perfection. Jesus is coming back to a glorious church.

  1.  Repentance from Dead Works
  2. Faith Toward God
  3. Doctrine on Baptisms
  4. Laying on of Hands
  5. Resurrection of the Dead
  6.  Eternal Judgment

Two Major Judgments:

  1. Judgment Seat of Christ (Gk. “Bema”)

a. For the believers only.

b.  Designed for those who received and acknowledged Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

c.  Not for condemnation, but for reward (Romans 14:10-13; 2 Corinthians 5:9-11)

How do we even know the reward that we are going to get?

d.  Not according to works

-  We are not saved by work either.

-  It is by grace that we have been saved. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).

2.  Great White Throne Judgment

There is no such thing as “once saved, always saved.” No such thing as “Christian now, Christian forever.

When towards the later part, we came to deny Jesus (many will draw cold) – lies, fornication, adultery…

What to do not to deny Christ?  --Get to know the Truth.

This Truth (The word of God) will help us discern what is not of God, that which is deception.

Matthew 10: 32-33 Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Revelation 18:23 - the greatest deception is through sorcery–Gk. “Pharmakeaia” (Pharmacy, Parmaceuticals)

Good believers and obedient people shall not come into judgment but reward those who are steadfast in every way.

Romans 14: 10 - Why judge your brother?

2 Corinthians 5:10 - Why cancel someone who has done a mistake? Good or bad, we will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. God knows believers are good and bad.

Good means being steadfast, faithful, loyal, committed, dedicated, relentless. Bad, means “did not grow in their faith.”

But our being good is not enough or not the way to heaven. It is our responsibility to be good or else we might drag people away with our actions and attitudes.

There is no small or big sinner. If you are saved, then you are saved. There is no neutral ground. We are all for righteousness.  ***
