The Year of Breakthroughs
2 Samuel 5:19-20 David didn’t make friends with the enemy and negotiate. What David did do? → He inquired the Lord.
When we are facing trials, is “inquiring of the Lord”, the first thing we do? Jesus won the fight. The enemy has already been overcome and defeated. We are winners and not a loser. We don’t need to win the fight that Jesus has already won for us. We are not fighting to win.
We are not just a conqueror but more than conquerors.
1 John 3:8 – The purpose of manifesting Jesus is to destroy the works of the devil over our lives. ---“It is finished!”
1 Peter 5:8—we have an “adversary”—the devil, seeking for people to be devoured through deception.
Once you are deceived you believe the lie of the devil and that’s the beginning that you will become a loser. But if we believe the truth, hold on to the truth, and stand to the truth, no matter how tough life gets, we come out victorious.
So, what David did → He inquired the Lord. The Lord’s answer—“Go up!” and the Lord has broken through.
What “Breakthrough” means?
1. a military movement that advances all the way through and beyond an enemy's frontline defense.
2. An act or instance of removing or surpassing an obstruction or restriction in overcoming a stalemate. ⁃ A sudden, dramatic, and important discovery or development. - An act of overcoming or penetrating an obstacle or restriction. ⁃ An act or instance of moving through or beyond an obstacle. ⁃ An instance of passing through a barrier or protection.
3. Any significant or sudden advance, development, achievement, or increase, as in scientific knowledge or diplomacy, that removes a barrier to progress. There is only one that could stop God from doing a breakthrough that is YOU.
You will stop God’s Breakthrough by:
1. Unbelief— If you don’t believe
2. Disobedience— If you don’t do what God asks you to do.
Breakthroughs don’t happen by luck, chance, accident, or randomly. Breakthrough happens on purpose! God’s eyes are watching to and fro, looking for people who are believing, expecting, and anticipating breakthroughs and God will come through no matter what you’re going through.
(pain, stress, distress, depression).
To experience breakthroughs, we should be intentional in our believing, obeying, expecting, and anticipating.
Breakthrough is the will of God for you. The God who heals, who hears our deepest cries, who answers prayers, who provides, who moves in power then, is still the same God who does them now.
Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Three Points:
1. Who do we expect the Breakthrough will come from? - Where do you expect the breakthrough will come from?
“God is about to do something greater, about to explode in our hearts, in this church, in our families, in our businesses, in the name of Jesus!”
