The believers at Thessalonica were perplexed by the persecution and false teaching that satan had used against them. As Timothy gave report about the struggles they were facing, Paul wrote a second letter to help settle their hearts and ground them in Biblical doctrine. He especially was burdened to ground them in the doctrine of things to come. Last time we learned how that God will make all things right when Jesus comes the second second time after the tribulation. He will deliver Israel from certain destruction at the battle of Armageddon and will set up His 1,000 year reign from the throne of David in Jerusalem. Based on these truths, they needed to remain focused on their walk with God and the will of God. This was the focus of Paul’s prayers to God for them.
