One of the distinctive marks of those that have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is a desire to serve him. When Paul wrote his first letter of encouragement to the Thessalonians, he noted that their trust in Christ caused them to turn from idols to serve the living and true God. (1 Thessalonians 1:9) Before Christ, our lives were consumed with serving idols of money, pleasure, self, promotion, pride, opinion and even the “American dream.” After Christ, our life gains a new purpose — to serve Jesus. (2 Corinthians 5:20) Today, let’s be reminded that our service to Christ should not to be a drudgery, but a delight.
