Paul carefully detailed the awful events of the Day of the Lord and the future for the Antichrist and those that follow him. In contrast, he reminds the Thessalonian believers of their incredible salvation and future with Christ. He further strongly urges them to stand firm on the truth of God’s Word anticipating the encouragement and strength of the Lord as they do. For Paul, teaching on the end times was not a hobby or a nice Christian pastime. It had a purpose, to cause the Thessalonian believers to live their Christian lives in readiness and righteousness. May our response be this as well.
