Believers in the first century faced the constant winds of doctrines just like we do today. In the city of Colossi, the church was being afflicted by teachers who were suggesting that Christ was not all that they needed for salvation and living a life that was pleasing to God. They did not totally deny the person of Christ, they did demote Him in their teachings. When Epaphras, who first preached the Gospel in Colossi, reported the situation to the Apostle Paul, God led Paul by the Holy Spirit to pen a letter to the Colossians believers. This letter was intended to disciple them and ground them in the truth of Jesus Christ.
In a day of much doctrinal confusion around the person of Jesus Christ, this message is relevant and vital for every believer today!
