Description

We know the name Susan B. Anthony (hopefully), but she was not alone in the fight for women's rights and specifically, the right for women to vote.  In this Bitchstory lesson, we discuss some of the badass women who laid it all on the line in the name of equality. We specifically focus on Sojourner Truth, and there is a lot to unpack just in her story.  But we also touch on some other great women and their contributions to women's equality.

"At a time when most Americans thought of slaves as male and women as white, Truth embodied a fact that still bears repeating: Among the blacks are women; among the women, there are blacks." - Nell Irvin Painter, regarding Sojourner Truth

Bonus info in this episode: did you know that Abe Lincoln attended a seance...in the Whitehouse?
