We live in a moment of history where it feels like the world is unsteady - metaphorically shaking. Yet, as we look through history, we hear stories of millions of "ordinary" Christians who seem unshakeably steady, even amid insurmountable challenges and crises. How are they so steady and robust? What can we learn from David's life and live an unshakeably steady life?

Study Questions

  1. Glen reminded us of the 2nd Law of thermal dynamics, that is the slow but steady break down into chaos of all ordered things. What in your mind does chaos look like or feel like? Tell a story of a time when you encountered chaos.
  2. We all search for stability in our lives but often we turn to things that were never designed to last. Why do we find instability so intolerable? What gives you confidence and stability during tough or chaotic times?
  3. Jesus commands his followers to seek his kingdom first. But we live in world that makes Jesus a personal or private concern. How do we show our children, friends, and coworkers that we seek Jesus first?
  4. Have you experienced the love of God pouring into your heart? Think back to a time when you felt the closest to God. What nourished your walk during that time? What kind of things disrupted your close walk? What would it take for you to feel the immediacy of God’s presence again?
