- Individual thinking can lead us to believe that Christianity is just about me and Jesus. But Phil pointed out that kind of think is like calling yourself a firefighter but not being a part of a fire hall. Why is it so tempting to reduce faith to Jesus and me? How can we build a more community and together oriented spirituality?
- Phil mentioned that there are 30 commandments that cannot be fulfilled without being connected to a local church. One such commandment is to submit to one another in love. In our culture being submissive is not considered a virtue. Why did Jesus command this? How can we tangibly practice this command in our church?
- COVID continues to have widespread and compounding consequences for the church. How has COVID changed your church experience? What do you think the church needs to learn from this pandemic? What do you think is essential for a local church to be a light in its community?
- Sometimes the church can be hard to love. What makes church difficult for you? How does the church help sustain you? Above all, Jesus died for his church and the church is his plan for spreading the good news. In what way should this truth shape our attitude towards the local church?
