Questions and doubt is a normal part of Christian life, but sometimes, we’re scared to ask the tough questions. When we read the Bible, though, we see that God isn’t afraid of our questions. Instead, he welcomes them, uses them to strengthen our faith, and draw us closer to him.

General – Time allotment: 10-15 minutes for one or two of these questions.

● Go around and share a highlight and a low light since you last met.

● What stood out to you in the sermon?

● What was one thing in the sermon that was challenging?

● What was one thing in the sermon that was encouraging?

● What do you want to be different this week in your life?

Sermon Specific

1) Sometimes, our culture assumes that Christians believe in God without asking any questions about our faith. How comfortable do you feel about asking questions about Christianity and God? Is it something that has been normalized in your life? If you’re comfortable, share some of the main questions that you’ve had about God or Christianity.

2) Jordan said that belief and faith are not synonymous, and that, all throughout our life, our faith rises and falls like the ocean tide. What do you think about this statement? What’s a time in your life when you felt like your faith was high? When did you feel that your faith was low?

3) Asking questions is a crucial part of our faith in Jesus. What are some ways that we can normalize questions and doubt in our church and community?

4) In those times of doubt and suffering, Jesus says that he is with us, he weeps with us, and suffers with us. Not only that, he suffered for us. How is this encouraging for you? How can we remember this truth during the hardest moments in life?
