Speaking Life Over Your Life: The Power of Your Words

The words we speak have incredible power. They can build faith, align with God's purpose, and transform our lives. But there's a concerning trend in today's church - according to a recent Barna study, only one in seven adults who claim to believe in biblical principles actually live them out. This disconnect between belief and action creates a serious problem: the blind leading the blind.

How Do I Know If I'm Really Saved?

This is one of the most common questions people ask. True salvation isn't just about an emotional experience or saying a prayer. It's about:

Giving your life to Christ

Repenting of your sins

Truly believing in your heart

Living for Him because of what He did for you

Entering the process of sanctification

When you genuinely encounter God, your life changes. You want to tell others about the peace, gentleness, kindness, and love you've experienced.

What Does Peter Teach Us About Living Out Our Faith?

In 2 Peter 1:1-16, Peter addresses believers about how to live a godly life. He emphasizes that God's divine power has given us everything we need through our knowledge of Him. This knowledge comes from reading and applying God's Word.

Peter outlines qualities believers should develop:

Faith

Goodness

Knowledge

Self-control

Perseverance

Godliness

Mutual affection

Love

These qualities mirror the fruit of the Spirit and come from following Christ, not from the world. When we possess these qualities in increasing measure, we become effective and productive in our knowledge of Jesus.

Why Do My Words Matter So Much?

Proverbs 18:21 tells us that "death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Our words carry life-altering power through the authority of the Holy Spirit.

Words are like seeds - they plant a harvest in our lives, either good or bad. Jesus is our ultimate example of this. He spoke strategically, healing the sick, calming storms, and even bringing the dead to life. Not one of His words was wasted.

Are your words building your future or tearing it down? Consider how you speak about your:

Health

Finances

Relationships

Faith

How Did God Use Words to Create?

Genesis 1:3 shows us that God spoke the world into existence, saying "Let there be light." Since we're made in God's image, our words also have power. Mark 11:23 reinforces this: "Truly, I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart, it will be done."

What words are empowering your faith today? How are you speaking over your life?

How Can I Stay Focused on God's Mission for Me?

Jesus stayed in His lane and on His mission. He didn't allow distractions, doubts, criticism, betrayal, or hardship to alter His words. His speech reflected His single-minded purpose.

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11), He countered the enemy's lies with powerful affirmations drawn from scripture: "It is written." This highlights the importance of being in God's Word daily, not just on Sundays.

Like Jesus, we are created for specific callings. By speaking life, we stay aligned with our God-given destiny.
