Paul has a great advise for those of living in a society as turbulent as the Corinthians;
Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.
1 Corinthians 16:13-14 NLT.
If you've seen 2 boxers do their thing in the ring, you'd hear their trainers constantly shouting out; "keep your guard up". When you guard is up, you would remain standing even when the enemy throws his punches. Paul says; stand firm in the faith. Stand firm in what you know about God and his Word. Stand firm in the revelation of God you have even when everything about the situation and everyone is telling you God is not real.
Be strong in the Lord. Build strength from within to withstand every attack.
Finally, Paul says to do everything with love. If love is the motivating factor, you can't go wrong.
Just like the believers in Corinth, we are facing so much, we can't afford to give in. I always say this; hold on to the last Word God gave you.
