Description

What should a Christian's response be towards trials, persecution and suffering? Today, many Christians are persecuted for their faith. Some are even ostracized and cancelled just for having a certain opinion. The Bible advises us that when it comes to the topic of suffering and persecution, we should have the right attitude towards the, the same kind of attitude Christ had when he faced his own trials and persecution. "So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin." 1 Peter 4:1. Suffering and trials is not necessarily proof that we are outside God's will like some people think. It is not even proof that we have done anything wrong or suffering for a sin we committed previously. Suffering and trials when approached with the right attitude, can have a positive effect on us because it gives us focus and clarifies our resolve. Peter also tells us; "if you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rest upon you." 1 Peter 1:14. So are you suffering today and facing persecution because you are a Christian, it's all fine, the persecuted Jesus too. Lastly, the Lord promises a special reward for those who do not give up on him. That's the attitude to have, there is a price and glory waiting for me at the end.
