We've discussed severally on David's secret in winning so many battles and we see this again today in chapters 19 and 20. Chapter 21 however tells us about one story that resonates even today. It is not about the census or whether it was God or the devil that moved David to do it, nor is it about the disaster that ensues. My focus instead is on the THRESHING FLOOR OF ARAUNAH the Jebusite where the angel appeared, where David paid Araunah for the threashing floor, offered his sacrifices and God honoured it by sending fire from heaven. Did you know that the threshing floor will go on to be the site of the Jewish temple that Solomon built and that even today, there is still a struggle over who owns the site; the Jews representing David or Islam representing Araunah the Jebusite? Did you know that that threshing floor is assumed to be where the Dome of the Rock, an Islamic monument and mosque is currently located today? And that to get the Jews to rebuild the new temple, discoveries will be made in the days ahead that Araunah's threshing floor is not that site, allowing the Jews to rebuild their temple? As such, as you read chapter 21, realize that king David is about to set forth things that will speak right into the end times.
