The books of Chronicles while looking like information we already have is however a careful chronology of the peoples and events around the story of man right from Adam to when the children of Israel comes back from captivity. It gives us the events from Genesis to 2Kings together with information around the time of 2 other prophets; Ezra and Nehemiah. The book focuses tracing everyone and everything up to David and from there keeps the focus on the ongoing with the kings of Judah. So unlike 1kings and 2kings it barely mentions the kings of Israel. As you read the book, don't become awed by the names and careful account but realize that there will be a Chronicle someday of you too, what will you leave behind for the next generation? What would be said concerning you?
