Can something be broken beyond repair? The answer of course is yes, Manasseh had broken something in Judah that was irreparable, something that even God was unwilling to forgive. Josiah was faced with the impossible, to uproot an idolatry that has been since the nation began to have kings, he could have simply surrendered to the decadence and go with the flow, but no, he will go on to accomplish the impossible and become the greatest king, aside David, that Istael ever had. A lesson we all can learn from as we are confronted with the behemoth task of nation building. In the end, it is quite sad how everything ends for Israel and Judah as a nation, but they are lessons that everyone that idolatry will destroy even the greatest and the most talented of us.
