"But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him." Acts 12:5 NLT. What is your first point of call whenever troubles come? For these believers, these were trying and difficult times. But these believers chose to turn to prayers in a moment most will turn to anything else but prayer. Prayers made in earnest can accomplish the unusual. Here, the earnest prayers by the church, answered by God, brought an angelic deliverance for Peter from God. Praying earnestly means praying sincerely with deep and intense conviction and passion. Sometimes, it feels like we do not pray like that any more.
However, the Bible tells us unequivocally about the power of prayer; "The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]." James 5:16 AMPC.
The time is has come for us to get back to praying earnest prayers.
