Description

In today's devotional I pointed out what happened when Paul and Silas prayed and there was an earthquake. The question is, do believers have the power to call for an earthquake, close the heavens over a place, command the elements of nature? "So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!
"
Acts of the Apostles 16:24‭-‬26 NLT. I do not find anywhere or anything in these verses to confirm Paul and Silas even called for the earthquake. In fact it is more likely that Paul and Silas were as surprised as everyone else at what was happening. They were simply singing hymns and praising God. It was God who chose to glorify his name in this way. My understanding; as long as we are representing Christ here on earth, we are allowed to exercise Exousia in his name. It is authority exerted on the behalf of Him and for his own purpose alone. It is not for turning us into weathermen and gods.
