During the conclusion of today's devotional, we prayed that the Lord would give us an insight into the finished work of Christ in his death, burial and resurrection. We also prayed that the Lord would open our eyes to our current position presently in Christ.
[11] When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature. [12] For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. [13] You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. [14] He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. [15] In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.
Colossians 2:11-15 NLT.
If every Christian would come to an understanding of these 4 verses, the church would be much more stronger and grounded.
It is in Christ, in fact, Christ himself performed the spiritual surgery of cutting away the sinful nature from us.
Paul says we were buried together with Christ. So we not only died with him on the cross, when he entered the grave, we went in there with him. In Christ, our old self and nature is dead and buried, a new us arose when Christ was raised from the dead.
This understanding is the secret to spiritual authority. When you understand what happened to you and who you are now today in Christ, you will understand why demons have no choice than to obey you.
