You will have heard that "pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before a fall" Proverbs 16:18. That is exactly our lesson from this chapter. We see that even after experiencing the power of God a few times, it didn't equate to a surrender to God, Nebuchadnezzer still thought himself a god and that all he had accomplished were by his own doing. As a result, God would eventually show him who was boss. Pride comes in subtly; that feeling that you are better than others or that you have tried and should be praised. Pride makes us think it we have accomplished enough and do not need to try or need others anymore. Pride makes us focus on self. The lesson today is that pride will eventually lead to downfall, and that our approach to life must always be; we are who we are by the grace of God. "For what gives you the right to make such a judgement? What do you have that God hasn't given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift? 1Cor 4:7.
