The apostle Paul's next prayer for the Ephesian believers is truly a wonder. I pray the same prayer for you today;
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT.
Paul prayed for inner strength. He said when they received it, Christ would make his home in their hearts. What did Paul mean? Inner strength is strength from the Holy Spirit within your spirit man. When you have this strength, you just know that the Lord is with you, always. You trust in him becomes absolute, because your roots have gone deep in him, it feels you are literally carrying Christ with you every where you go.
Secondly, Paul prayed for them to have the power to understand the extent of God's love. How much God loves us. I feel most Christians do not comprehend or understand God's love for his church because when we do, every other love pales in light of God's love; love for the things of the world, whether other people hate or love us, etc, all of it becomes nothing when we understand how much God loves us.
I pray for you, you will understand how wide, how long, how high, and deep God's love is for you in Jesus name.
