Description

In today's devotional, we see 2 paths clearly laid before everyone who seeks eternal life. The apostle Paul argues that it is either through faith in Christ or seeking to keep the law.

"It is through faith that a righteous person has life" Habakkuk 2:4.

Which is seeming opposite to;

"It is through obeying the law that a person has life." Leviticus 18:5.

Faith or the law. Paul's argument is simple, now because life through the law holds one condition;

But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.”
Galatians 3:10 NLT.

This quote, though from Deuteronomy 27:26 makes one thing clear, you have to be in full compliance of the law to receive its blessing. And because no single person can possibly can, it is an exercise in futility; no one can be made right with God through keeping the law.

However, the way of faith is different and it says;

"but Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the scriptures, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." Through Christ Jesus, God blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith." Galatians 3:13-14.

The way of faith says Christ took my place on that cross. I accept his sacrifice for me, so I was also guilty on the cross, his death paid the price for my sins because the wages of sin is death and I died already with Christ..

The choice should be clear; I choose faith in Christ. I choose Jesus over the law.
