In today's devotional, we observed a key things that stand out as the Lord guides the children of Israel by giving them his laws. The Lord makes it clear who and what makes them holy. It wasn't the sacrifices they brought. It wasn't the blood of the animals that was shed, it was the Lord himself.
Leviticus 22:31-32 NLT
[31] “You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord. [32] Do not bring shame on my holy name, for I will display my holiness among the people of Israel. I am the Lord who makes you holy.
It doesn't matter whether it's the Old or New testament, the one who makes us holy is God himself. Note that I am not saying we have no obligations; whether in the Old or New Testament, to keep God's law, I am saying we keep the law because the Lord is the one who makes us Holy.
