In today's reading, Jeremiah prophesies against the false prophets who had led Judah astray. He also spoke about how we should treat prophesies. Why is this important? Jesus warned us that there will be false prophets in our time claiming to speak from GOD. Obviously, the fact that there are false prophets implies there will be real ones too speaking on GOD'S behalf and giving us a message from the LORD. The secret is that we must be able to discern what the LORD is saying for ourselves, probably not every single word, but we must be able to discern when he is speaking or otherwise.
