In today's devotional, we read about Jesus raising Lazarus, his friend who had been dead for 4 days back to life. In doing this, Jesus declares that; he is the resurrection. What did he mean?
Jesus told Martha; "Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”
John 11:25-26 NLT.
To resurrect is to come back to life, it is to bring back to life something or someone that was dead. So when Jesus said he was the resurrection, he meant death could not limit or stop him, he could give life even to someone who has been dead and probably rottening since he had been dead for 4 days.
Do you believe Jesus is the resurrection?
Finally, the words of Jesus when he encounters John on the island of Patmos;
"When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.
Revelation 1:17-18 NLT.
