In today's devotional, John gives us so many important revelation of Christ; Christ is the way to the Father. Christ is in the Father and the Father is in him. Christ is the true vine, outside him, we will wither off and die.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
John 14:6-7 NLT
It is that simple, it is impossible to know or access the Father through anyone but Christ.
Christ is in the Father.
Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do.
John 14:9-11 NLT.
This one is so huge. When we eventually see God, the person we will see is Christ. In some sense, he is the physical representation of the Godhead.
Here is another one;
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
John 15:5-7 NLT.
This one carries some major ramifications. Here Christ ask us to remain in him. I would imagine that means we can leave right? To remain implies to stay with, to stay connected to Christ. Jesus is telling us to make conscious effort to remain. There will be things and people who will try to get us to leave him, but we must remain in him if we intend to continue to be a part of the grapevine.
