Jesus' final words on the cross in the book of John were; "When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

John 19:30 NLT. It is finished; what did he mean? What was finished? If I hazard a guess, I would say the mission was accomplished, or that he had completed his task. However, "it is finished" meant a lot more than that. For one, it meant the price for my sins had been paid full. No other payment was necessary for sin and the redemption of mankind. Secondly, it meant it was finished for the devil, his hold over mankind was now broken, we are free. You and I do not owe sin or the devil anything anymore. The Price was paid and in full.
