Mary's and Zechariah's response to the angel Gabriel provide us our learning in today's devotional. Mary and Zechariah represents for us two responses we can have whenever we receive a word from God or are facing a situation where we need to decide for the Word. In your opinion, which was the harder situation; a virgin becoming pregnant or an old man and his aged wife conceiving and giving birth? Zechariah, by his statement seemed to questioned the integrity and authenticity of the message he was receiving; " Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.”
Luke 1:18 NLT. Mary's simply wanted to know how it would happen; "Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”
Luke 1:34 NLT. Zechariah wanted proof, Mary wanted a word. Asking to use a fleece to prove God is not walking in faith. Which would you be, a Mary or Zechariah?
