Description

In today's devotional, we read about a very important event in the life of Jesus; his baptism.

"One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”
Luke 3:21‭-‬22 NLT.
His baptism was not him just being dipped into water like everyone else to signify repentance of sin, he had no sin to repent of. His baptism was God announcing him as his only begotten Son.
His baptism and anointing with the Holy Spirit ticked off 2 symbolism that confirmed him the Son of God. The last is his death on the cross and the shedding of his blood.

"And Jesus Christ was revealed as God’s Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross—not by water only, but by water and blood. And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony."
1 John 5:6 NLT.

His baptism revealed him as the Son of God.
