In today's devotional, we learned about how faith works by learning from the faith of Jairus and the woman who was healed of her blood disease.
Both of their stories starts with them joining the crowd to wait on and welcomed Jesus as they heard Jesus was on his way there;
"On the other side of the lake the crowds welcomed Jesus, because they had been waiting for him. Then a man named Jairus, a leader of the local synagogue, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come home with him. His only daughter, who was about twelve years old, was dying. As Jesus went with him, he was surrounded by the crowds. A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped. “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. Everyone denied it, and Peter said, “Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you.” But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.”
Luke 8:40-46 NLT.
Jairus literally stopped Jesus' entourage to beg him to come to his house to lay hands on his sick daughter. The sick woman on the other hand did not bother stopping Jesus, she didn't even ask permission like everyone else who touched him to be healed had done until now, she came from behind and deliberately touched him. Both of these people were walking in faith. Many people were there but Jesus only went to the home of the person who walked in faith and asked him to come. Many were touching Jesus but only this woman did so deliberately. Faith is deliberate, it is focused on God and will not be dissuaded from its target. Faith does not fear.
