Description

In today's devotional, we conclude Mark chapter 12 by discussing how Jesus Christ is mentioned in the Old testament and how he fulfills what the prophets in the Old saw and prophesied. Here, Jesus was quoting David in Psalms 110;
"For David himself, speaking under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, said, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’
Mark 12:36 NLT.
Now, even though Jesus uses this scripture to point out how the Messiah could not be referred to as the Son of David because David called him Lord. My emphasis however is on the fact that when David spoke about the time the Messiah would present his sacrifice as atonement for the sins of mankind, and God after accepting that sacrifice would say to him; "sit at my right hand", he was seeing 1,000s of years into the future and talking about Jesus Christ. The teachers of religious law had probably read those verses severally and still did not realise they were talking about Jesus.
