Mark chapter 13, Jesus teaches about his second coming. His emphasis is on what each one of us must be found doing at his final return. Remember we said his second coming will be in two stages; the rapture where he comes to take the church home and finally his glorious return where all eyes will see him come. His advise is applicable to everyone going through both periods; “The coming of the Son of Man can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. When he left home, he gave each of his slaves instructions about the work they were to do, and he told the gatekeeper to watch for his return. You, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know when the master of the household will return—in the evening, at midnight, before dawn, or at daybreak. Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning. I say to you what I say to everyone: Watch for him!”
Mark 13:34-37 NLT. Each one of us has work to do that we will one day give account of. Secondly, if we are not going to miss his coming and be caught unawares, then we must be watchful and vigilant. We can't be sleeping on our assignment.
