Description

In today's devotional we see Jesus marvel at the attitude of the people from Nazareth and how it hindered his ministry with them. The people who should know him the most and have experienced him the most became offended at his success.
"The next Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. They asked, “Where did he get all this wisdom and the power to perform such miracles?” Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and his own family.”
Mark 6:2‭-‬4 NLT.
They knew him as a child and had seen him face the same life issues they had. They knew him as; the carpenter, someone who built things, made their furniture, now he is here making waves and doing miracles. They became offended. The outcome is terrible;
"And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their unbelief. Then Jesus went from village to village, teaching the people."
Mark 6:5‭-‬6 NLT.
The anointed one here and he couldn't do any miracles. The one God gave the anointing without measure was here and they received nothing.
Attitude is everything. The attitude they expressed here was unbelief. Unbelief limits the grace of God.
