In today's devotional, we see the Pharisees continue to accuse Jesus of using demonic influence in performing his miracles, our focus is on why they did it even though we also learn how Jesus actually cast out evil spirits.
My suggestion this morning is that they were simply jealous of his rise to fame and the commendations people were making about him.
"The crowd was amazed and asked, “Could it be that Jesus is the Son of David, the Messiah?” But when the Pharisees heard about the miracle, they said, “No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.”
Matthew 12:23-24 NLT.
They were blind with jealousy. They could not see that a man that was both blind and dumb, was now healed. All the could see and hear were the praises of the people. Jealousy blinds you.
Jesus said; "But if I am casting out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you. For who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger—someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house."
Matthew 12:28-29 NLT.
Jesus is telling us that we cast out demons through the help of the Spirit of God.
