In this episode your hosts our joined by the podcast's producer Kittenpuke (Hello) to discuss the musical career and legacy of Emo Rap icon Lil Peep. They discuss his early days as a member of Schemaposse and his already near honed sound of melding Emo Pop / Emo tropes with Hip Hop, his future more mainstream oriented mixtapes in his mid-career of joining the Gothboiclique and teaming with partner in crime Lil Tracy and his later and posthumous sounds of a near full conversion into pure 2000's Emo sound. How has Lil Peep affected the current state of the rap scene as well as the Emo Rap scene that he helped create in the first play with the rest of the GBC, what does Peep do right that his copycats don't and how did many (including your hosts) make mistakes regarding how to first handle Peep unique lyricism and emotional dynamics and come to understand it only post-his death and with the hindsight of 20-20 and a better understanding of rapper's current daily struggles regarding drug abuse? Along the way the trio get into all kinds of offhand side tangents. Whether it be the return of Pat rambling about Hamilton, on the topic of recently released rapper Ruben Slikk, the new Taylor Swift album "Folklore", or a back and forth discussion between Pat and Optimal about Scorsese films. It's a jam packed episode sure to tug at the heart strings but bring the laughs along the way.
