Project MKULTRA was an illegal human experimentation program run by the CIA from the 50s into the 70s. For part 1 the guys go through the creation of the CIA and the lead up to MKULTRA. After WW2 the USA grew increasingly paranoid about the mind altering abilities of Russia and China during the cold war so they decided they would have to get their own program going or fall behind. The CIA started to use drugs and other chemicals in their interrogations to get information out of prisoners of war but decided they wanted to reprogram people to do their bidding.
