"But you CHOSE to be a mother", "I don't miss a THING! Being a mother is the BEST thing that's happened to me", "You had 9 months to prepare for this", and a slew of other feedback I had when I asked the simple question on a mommy Facebook group,

"DOES ANYONE MISS THEIR LIFE BEFORE BECOMING A MOM?"

On the other side of this, I received a TON of responses shouting "YES!" and sharing what aspects of their pre-mommy life they do miss. The freedom alone! The spontaneity. Traveling with friends. A career. Being lazy on the couch on a Sunday watching "Sex & The City". Going to the bathroom without panicking and rushing, or having fingers under the door saying "Mommy!" Eating take out by yourself watching reality TV. Working out and not focusing on child care. Having the f'in ENERGY to work out. I could go on for days about this and ya know what? That doesn't make me ungrateful, a bad mom, or even an average mom. It makes me an awesome mom. And it makes YOU an awesome mom too. You had a pretty great life with a lot of wonderful memories, be proud of that.

Today we will talk about just how hard it is to transition from the life you had to the life you have now. It's a HUGE change. A 180. And it may take a long time to really adjust. And that's OK. It's time to be honest. It's time to not be afraid of judgy moms that say, "Oh, I love being a mom..." Who said I DIDN'T? Ugh! I want to scream to these women to just be supportive and leave the judgement for their own self, right? Don't worry, you're in a safe space here my friend! Thank you so much for listening, sharing, and continuing to come back.
