Jamie McGregor from Bright Direction Training and Vicky Owens from the Calm Project work to give second chances to young people who have not prospered in the education system. LIke me, they think that simply getting young people to be valued and to know someone believes in them, can be a pivot point to success. It requires us to put the student at the centre and listen to their hope and aspirations and then find their unique way. If the system has been failing you repeatedly the way forward is not likely to be a standard curriculum sequence and offer.
But first you have to get a picture of the whole individual and see their behaviour and lack of success as a sympton. You have to find the cause. You then have to be the coach and advocate. You have to put them in charge of a new future.
