In today's Lecture, Rev. Renaldo McKenzie continues to conceptualize and contextualize the course by exploring a working definition of the Caribbean. Rev. Renaldo explains the importance of the assignment to read Ama Mazama's Afrocentric Paradigm as we delve into a critical study of the Caribbean. Rev. McKenzie presented a historical overview of the Caribbean and indicated that the Caribbean is an Invention, yet an invention beginning where it depends on how we approach Caribbean history; a paradigm may help begin with Kamit, a place of victory and not at colonialism or enslavement.
The students also share their understanding of the paradigm as it applies to the studies.
Rev. McKenzie also discusses the China-Jamaica relationship and what it means for the Jamaica-US relationships.
The class is a course at Jamaica Theological Seminary https://jts.edu.jm; and is a Lecture by Rev. Renaldo McKenzie, Author of Neoliberalism, Globalization, Income Inequality, Poverty and Resistance
