The second commandment out of the ten commandments quite literally states “you shall have no other gods before me”. Now I’m not talking about a golden statue of a calf here, I’m talking about anything that you value more than the Lord. Anything that is in between you and him. The good things in this world are meant to be enjoyed with a thankful heart. But when that gift replaces the gift giver, we fall into idolatry. It is so important to evaluate yourselves every day to understand what is it that brings us the most happiness and joy. We need to be conscious of what is it that takes high value in our hearts.
